Keys To Success was established to provide entry-level work experience, shadowing, career development, enrichment, employability, and life skills necessary for the District of Columbia youth and adults to gain a competitive edge into the workforce and life.  KEYS experience introduces our community to the workplace, imparts valuable employment skills, gain self-confidence, career awareness, financial literacy, and interpersonal competencies needed to succeed over the rest of their lives.

The goal of the KEYS program is to provide a comprehensive project-based learning approach.  Keys To Success is more than a job placement-program – it incorporates the core elements of successful youth and adult-development programming.

Youth are only placed in jobs or job shadowing once their interests, abilities, and preparedness for the work environment are assessed and adequately prepared by our program. Preparation includes a variety of age, skill, and interest appropriate program elements.  We provide professional adult support and guidance, engaging activities, and input from their peers and college students.  KEYS assist teens in making a successful transition to healthy adulthood and economic independence.

Hayride to Christmas 2023

2023 marks the 42nd year of “The Hayride to Christmas,” which provides holiday meals to the families of disadvantaged school-aged children in the Washington, D.C. area. Originally conceived as “Deborah's Christmas Hayride,” this holiday tradition was started by Deborah Love Matory, a Washington, D.C. psychologist, civic activist, and resident of North Portal Estates. Today, this annual event continues as "The Hayride to Christmas."
